Raman and NIR Spectroscopy, Measurement Technology

The HSI™ Visa by IRIS Technology Solutions is an industrial hyperspectral imaging system for Real-time monitoring of production and sorting processes. It combines spatially resolved image information with spectroscopic data, thereby enabling pixel-accurate physical-chemical analysis of products and materials directly in the ongoing process.

The system works according to the push-broom principle, in which the field of view is captured line by line. Depending on the application, there are NIR and Vis-NIR configurations available. This allows the HSI™ visus to be adapted to different materials, products, and analytical requirements.

Real-time process control

Hyperspectral imaging not only enables the detection of visible properties of a product, but simultaneously provides information about its chemical composition and spatial distribution.

This makes the HSI™ visa suitable, among other things, for:

  • quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Detection and removal of foreign objects
  • Control of homogeneity and distribution of active ingredients
  • Classification and sorting of materials
  • Anomaly and defect detection
  • continuous quality and process control

With a capture speed of over 300 lines per second is the system designed for fast industrial processes. Belt speeds of over 30 m/min can be supported.

Applications

In the food industry For example, the HSI™ system can be used for the quantitative and qualitative determination of parameters such as fat, fiber, protein, and moisture, as well as for the detection of foreign bodies.

In the field of Recycling and Circular Economy among other things, hyperspectral analysis enables the characterization, quantification, and classification of polymers as well as the sorting and recovery of different plastics.

Further applications can be found, for example, in the wood industry, where the system can be used for moisture determination, classification of wood-based panels, quantification of resins, as well as for the detection of defects and foreign objects.

Integration into industrial processes

The HSI™ vision system was developed for integration into production lines. The systems can be PLC, SCADA and sorting systems are connected and support industrial communication interfaces such as Ethernet (TCP/IP), Modbus, Profinet, and Profibus.

With the degree of protection IP69 Is the system also designed for demanding industrial production environments.
