Pulsed fiber lasers for precise time-resolved applications

MPB Communications' pulsed fiber lasers offer short laser pulses, high repetition rates, and excellent beam quality for demanding applications in research, life sciences, and industry. The portfolio covers wavelengths from the visible range to the near-infrared and can be flexibly adapted to various requirements.

With Wavelengths from 514 to 1700 nm, pulse durations of 100 ps to 100 ns and refresh rates of 1 to 100 MHz a large parameter range is available for a wide variety of applications. Depending on the wavelength and repetition rate, average output powers of up to 20W possible.

High beam quality and flexible pulse parameters

The pulsed fiber lasers typically achieve a beam quality of M² < 1.1 and a polarization extinction ratio (PER) of >20 dB. This makes them particularly suitable for applications that require precise beam guidance and reproducible optical properties.

Important laser parameters can be configured according to the application. These include:

  • Pulse duration
  • Output power
  • Repetition rate
  • Trigger mode

The systems can be triggered internally or externally. MPB also offers customized configurations with different pulse durations and lower repetition rates.

Broad wavelength range from visible to NIR

The pulsed fiber lasers are based on rare-earth and Raman laser or amplifier technologies, thereby enabling an exceptionally large wavelength range.

Available systems cover the range of 514 to 1700 nm ab. This allows the lasers to be specifically tailored to spectroscopic transitions, fluorophores, or other application-specific wavelength requirements.

Operation and integration

The laser parameters can be adjusted via a graphical user interface. Among other things, the controllable features include Pulse duration, output power, repetition rate and trigger mode.

The compact and robust fiber laser design enables both use in research setups and integration into more complex optical systems. MPB also offers customized configurations for special requirements.

Typical applications

The pulsed fiber lasers from MPB Communications are suitable for, among other things:

  • Super-resolution microscopy and STED
  • Time-resolved spectroscopy
  • Life Science and Biomedical Research
  • material processing
  • Two-photon polymerization
  • Research and Development

MPB documents, among other things, the use of a 560 nm pulsed Raman fiber lasers at 30 MHz for STED nanoscopy at the Max Planck Institute and a 3-W-775-nm fiber laser for multimodal STED microscopy at Clemson University.

Pulsed fiber lasers from MPB Communications

The combination of broad wavelength range, flexibly adjustable pulse parameters, high repetition rates and excellent beam quality makes MPB's pulsed fiber lasers versatile laser sources for demanding scientific and industrial applications.
