MSV200 – Precise Laser Scribing for Photovoltaics and Large-Area Substrates

The MSV200 from msolv is a scalable laser processing platform for the Development and production of modern photovoltaic modules. The system combines a large workspace with a highly stable mechanical design and is suitable for both the development of new processes and use in larger production environments.

With a Working area of 650 × 550 mm The MSV200 supports different panel sizes and production volumes. The massive granite base provides the mechanical stability that is required, in particular, for the high-precision laser scribing of large-area substrates.

Precise layer-to-layer alignment

For multi-step structuring processes, the MSV200 combines a Machine vision system with proprietary scanning methods by msolv. This allows the position of the individual layers to be recorded in real time and the position of the laser tracks to be automatically corrected.

This precise alignment along the long and short panel edges is particularly important for the production of reliable Photovoltaic cell structures and junctions relevant and supports high process efficiency and reproducibility.

Scalable platform for development and production

The MSV200 is designed to grow with increasing production requirements. The platform can be used for both Optimization and development of new processes as well as for larger production volumes. Solutions for automated Panel handling available.

This allows a developed process to be scaled up step-by-step toward series production on the same equipment platform.

Configurable for different processes

Although the MSV200 is primarily for Laser-Scribing has been optimized, the system can additionally be equipped with basic Inkjet functionality be equipped with. This allows, for example, nanoparticle inks or dielectric materials to be applied.

This combination enables complementary process steps within hybrid manufacturing environments and allows an application-specific configuration of the system.

Typical applications

  • Laser scribing of photovoltaic modules
  • Development of new thin-film PV processes
  • Precise structuring of large-area substrates
  • Layer-to-layer aligned laser processes
  • Research and Process Development
  • Scaling development processes into production
  • Hybrid laser and inkjet processes
  • Inkjet deposition of nanoparticulate or dielectric materials

MSV200 from msolv

The MSV200 connects a large workspace, highly stable granite construction, and precise automatic alignment with a scalable system platform. This makes the system particularly suitable for photovoltaic applications where high positioning accuracy and reproducible laser scribing over larger areas are required.
