The Frequency Domain Spectrometer ChronosDFD sets new standards in time-resolved fluorescence analysis. Thanks to innovative digital frequency-domain technology, the system enables complete lifetime measurements in less than one second. This allows even complex fluorescence decays and rotational correlations to be determined with the highest accuracy.
Laser diodes and LEDs are modulated with square pulses of approximately 2 nanoseconds duration. The system also generates frequency signals with up to 30 harmonics, enabling precise analysis of the phase shift and modulation depth of the emitted photons. Finally, ChronosDFD allows the measurement of fast kinetics, which were previously limited by long measurement times.
Technical highlights for maximum efficiency
The ChronosDFD spectrometer It offers a lifetime measurement range of 10⁻¹² to 10⁻² seconds and achieves exceptional temporal resolution in the picosecond range. It also supports various light sources, including laser diodes (370–830 nm), LEDs (265–520 nm), xenon lamps, supercontinuum, and Ti:sapphire lasers.
Thanks to its parallel-beam design, the system delivers particularly precise polarization measurements. Its user-friendliness is also impressive: The Vinci Multidimensional Fluorescence Spectroscopy software enables fully automated control of all components such as cuvette holders, polarizers, filter wheels, and monochromators. Finally, the flexible data output allows for the display of phase and modulation spectra, time-resolved spectra, and FRET analyses in 2D and 3D.
Versatile applications in science and industry
Thanks to its fast and highly precise fluorescence analysis, the FFrequency Domain Spectrometer for a wide range of research and industrial applications. It is used in biochemical research to analyze protein interactions and molecular binding mechanisms. Chemists also benefit from the high-precision characterization of complex fluorescent mixtures. Furthermore, the system is used in materials science to analyze the optical properties of new materials. Finally, it is used in pharmacology to investigate drug interactions and rapid kinetics.
