The Photon Counter Spectrometer PC1 is a compact benchtop instrument designed for scientific applications requiring the highest sensitivity. It combines a state-of-the-art optical design with fully automated control for steady-state fluorescence measurements. It enables precise analyses of fluorescence intensity, polarization, kinetic processes, and synchronous luminescence spectra.

Thanks to its high-resolution photon counting technology, the PC1 achieves a S/N ratio of over 5000:1 on the Raman spectrum of water. The system also features 80 MHz preamplifier discriminators, enabling linear measurements of up to eight million counts per second on three independent channels. Finally, the spectrometer supports time-resolved measurements and can be upgraded for picosecond resolution.

Technical highlights for maximum precision

The PC1 spectrometer It boasts a host of advanced features. It utilizes a 300 W xenon light source with 45 mW/nm brightness at 275 nm, with lasers, laser diodes, and LEDs available as optional light sources. Furthermore, high-precision holographic grating monochromators ensure wavelength accuracy of ±0.2 nm and wavelength repeatability of ±0.25 nm.

The spectrometer also features a parallel-beam design, enabling particularly precise polarization measurements. Flexible data analysis with the Vinci Multidimensional Fluorescence Spectroscopy software offers numerous functions for spectral correction, smoothing, derivation, and normalization. Finally, 2D and 3D data visualization allows for comprehensive analysis of the measured spectra and fluorescence intensities.

Areas of application in research and industry

Thanks to its high sensitivity and precision, the PC1 Photon Counter Spectrometer for a wide range of research and industrial applications. It is used in biophysical research to analyze molecular interactions and fluorescence anisotropy. Chemists also benefit from the precise characterization of optical properties of materials. Furthermore, the system is used in pharmacology to analyze drug interactions and biochemical processes. Finally, it is used in environmental analysis to detect the lowest concentrations of fluorescent substances with high accuracy.
