Microchip lasers are passively Q-switched lasers that achieve sub-ns pulse lengths due to the very short resonator design. Without an amplifier, high pulse peak powers of up to 40kW and pulse energies of up to 40µJ are achieved. This is the company's microchip laser Horus a very economical and extremely compact laser, which is also used for drilling circuit boards. Due to the significantly shorter pulse compared to actively Q-switched lasers, the quality of micro-processing is significantly better. But microchip lasers are also already being used successfully in measurement technology such as Raman & LIBS spectroscopy, LIDAR, atmospheric scanning and MALDI.
