Pulsed lasers with a wavelength of around 2 µm are preferred for processing plastics, semiconductors and some polymers. The lasers of AdValue Photonics can also be found in medical applications.

With a Q-switch, pulse durations in the nanosecond range of 30-180 ns and pulse energies of up to 500 µJ can be achieved.

Mode-locked lasers at 2 µm are available with pulse durations of 300-900 fs.
