Versatile measuring device for determining contours for research and industry

The Measuring device for determining contours PGS200 from SM Instruments enables the precise capture of 2D profiles and contours in an extremely simple and intuitive way. Compared to the smaller version PGS100, the column can also be controlled in the Z-axis via software. In addition, the entire column unit can be moved or the scanning unit can be designed to be pivotable. This makes extensive measurements possible thanks to the wide variety of measuring probes and measuring arms.

Technical features

The Measuring device for determining contours has a usable measuring range of 220 mm length and 50 mm height, which ensures very good accessibility. The operation of the profilometer software is not only very simple but also intuitive. The Profile Studio software program is equipped with all the necessary CAD functions required for dimensioning in the measurement report and for reliable control of your parts. In addition, automation programs, which are used, for example, in serial measurements, can be created quickly and easily.

As standard, the measuring device is equipped with a work table with a “T” slot and a 32 mm measuring probe. Suitable accessories, such as the positioner with 3 or 4 degrees of freedom and the precision vice for part fixation, can be added. The device is calibrated using software-controlled calibration standards in accordance with common industrial standards (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025).

Areas of application of the measuring device for determining contours

The Measuring device for determining contours is used in quality control in mechanical engineering and metal processing. It can be used for almost all solid materials where contours and profiles need to be measured. Typical applications include the detection of defects on surfaces, the measurement of angles and curves of surfaces, the analysis of thread profiles, the determination of edge contours with associated angles and the measurement of the length of grooves or threads.
