Ultrafast fiber lasers for research, microscopy, and precision applications

MPB Communications' Ultrafast Fiber Lasers offer compact and reliable laser sources with pulse durations in the femtosecond and picosecond range. The broad portfolio encompasses different wavelengths, repetition rates, and output powers, thus enabling targeted adaptation to demanding scientific and industrial applications.

The systems generate linearly polarized, nearly transform-limited pulses with high beam quality. Thanks to their compact and robust fiber laser design, they are simultaneously characterized by high reliability and low maintenance requirements. They are available both as seeders for higher-power laser systems and as complete laser sources.

femtosecond fiber laser

MPB's femtosecond fiber lasers cover a wide range of different applications and wavelengths.

Available among others are:

  • UFL-Femto Seeder: 1030, 1560 and 1850–2100 nm
  • Repetition rates of 10 to 80 MHz
  • Output powers of 1 to 50 mW
  • Pulse durations of 80 to 800 fs
  • Tunable systems of 1850 to 2100 nm with pulse durations <100 fs
  • Complete femto systems at 780, 920, 1030–1080, 1178 and 1560 nm
  • Power outputs of complete systems of >1 W
  • Pulse durations of complete systems of <200 fs

This makes both compact seed lasers and high-performance ultrashort pulse sources available for demanding applications.

picosecond fiber laser

MPB also offers a wide range of different configurations for picosecond lasers.

The portfolio includes:

  • Seeders at 920, 1020–1080 and 1120–1240 nm
  • Tunable systems of 1040 to 1080 nm
  • Visible picosecond lasers from 514 to 595 nm
  • Pulse durations depending on the system from 2 to 100 hp
  • Typical refresh rates of 10 to 100 MHz
  • GHz seeder with 1.1 to 1.2 GHz
  • Complete systems with output powers of >500 mW

Due to the different wavelengths, pulse durations, and repetition rates, the lasers can be specifically tailored to the respective measurement, imaging, or processing task.

Flexible configuration for demanding applications

MPB combines a wide range of ultrafast fiber lasers with Wavelengths, pulse durations, repetition rates and output powers. This allows the realization of both specialized research setups and integrated optical systems.

In addition to complete laser systems, compact seeders are available that can be used as a starting point for higher-power or customized laser systems.

Typical applications

MPB mentions the following areas of application, among others:

  • Multiphoton and optical microscopy
  • Neuroscience and Calcium Imaging
  • Medical Research
  • Spectroscopy
  • Semiconductor inspection
  • Micro material processing
  • Research and Development

A concrete example is a 920-nm Mode-Locked Femtosecond Fiber Laser, which is used at McGill University in a microscopy platform for calcium imaging and neuroscientific research.

Ultrafast fiber lasers from MPB Communications

With pulse durations from femtosecond to picosecond range, a broad wavelength spectrum, and numerous available repetition rates, MPB Communications offers a versatile portfolio of compact ultrafast fiber lasers.

Soliton assists you in selecting and configuring the suitable system. Decisive factors in particular are wavelength, pulse duration, repetition rate, output power, as well as the question of whether a seeder or a complete laser system is needed.
