ITS – Process Tomography for Industrial Process Monitoring and Multiphase Flows
ITS (Industrial Tomography Systems) develops systems for industrial process tomography for the non-contact visualization and monitoring of processes in pipelines, vessels, and process plants. The tomographic measurement methods provide insights into industrial processes without requiring optical access to the interior of the process.
Among other things, electrical resistance tomography (ERT) and electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) are used. Differences in electrical conductivity or capacitance are measured using electrodes arranged in a ring around the process, and spatial information about the distribution of different phases or materials is obtained from this.
Process tomography from ITS is used, among other things, for investigating mixing processes, multiphase flows, filtration and separation processes, as well as for level and interface detection. Typical applications include liquid-solid, liquid-liquid, and gas-liquid systems, as well as pneumatic conveying processes.
