  • For sample quantities up to approx. 5 g
  • Scalable up to 32, 48, or 60 samples
  • Open, non-pressure dissolution method
  • Software control via iPad, tablet, or laptop
  • Creation and Storage of Multi-Stage Digestion Programs

The ColdBlock CBM Sample Digestion System Medium is a sample digestion system of the ColdBlock Pro Series for medium sample volumes. It is especially suitable for laboratories that want to perform robust, reproducible, and fast digestions for ICP-OES or ICP-MS analyses.

With up to 16 sample positions per digester and a sample size of up to 5 g, the CBM is the universal solution within the Pro Series. It offers a very good balance of sample throughput, sample volume, and flexibility.

The ColdBlock CBM is the mid-size version of the ColdBlock Pro Series and was designed as Sample preparation system for medium sample volumes up to approx. 5 g. A single CBM digester can process up to 16 samples simultaneously. Due to the modular design, multiple digesters can be combined into systems with 32, 48, or 60 sample positions.

ColdBlock Technology: Faster Digestion without Pressure Vessels

The CBM uses patented ColdBlock technology with focused short-wave infrared radiation and a special cooling zone. This process allows for fast, open digestions without pressure vessels and without long heating or cooling times. According to the manufacturer, typical digestions can be completed in less than 20 minutes.

Software Control & Method Management

Control is via the ColdBlock software package on an iPad, tablet, or laptop. Users can create, save, and reuse single or multi-step methods. This makes the system particularly suitable for laboratories aiming to establish standardized methods with high sample throughput.

Sample Vessels & Compatibility

For the CBM, 100 ml borosilicate test vessels with a 36 mm diameter are used. In addition, quartz vessels and HF-compatible test vessel liners are available. This makes the system particularly flexible for different sample matrices and acid chemistries.

Validated Methods for Food Analysis

In food analysis, according to ColdBlock, digestion methods using HNO₃ and H₂O₂ have been developed for various certified reference materials. The tested methods achieved comparable accuracy and precision to classical procedures, but with significantly shorter digestion times of 10 to 20 minutes.
