The ability to perform an in situ analysis is often an important requirement for using LIBS as a tool in real applications.
The principles of LIBS allow the use of this technique outside of the laboratory.

AtomTrace has designed and engineered a Mobile LIBS Laboratory - a computer-controlled, modular device equipped with laboratory-grade instrumentation capable of performing LIBS analysis in-situ from a distance of over 20 m.

This enables remote analysis of hard-to-reach objects or dangerous environments, the only requirement is a direct view of the sample. The device consists of a few modules that can be reconfigured as required and also dismantled for easy transport.

What is LIBS?

LIBS is a modern analysis technique that uses a laser pulse to quickly
Determination of the chemical composition of the sample used. It deals
is an effective combination of laser ablation and emission spectroscopy.

Benefits of LIBS

  • Fast determination of the elemental composition
  • High resolution 2D chemical mapping, visualization of
    surface heterogeneity
  • Depth profiling of multi-layer materials
  • Visibility of light elements
