Design and functional principle
In addition, each optical pressure sensor is based on an interferometric measurement method in which the light is guided to the sensor element via an optical fiber. As the sensor element deforms under pressure, the optical path length changes, enabling highly precise pressure measurement in real time. Thanks to the use of biocompatible materials and robustly designed housing variants, the OPP sensors can withstand temperatures of up to 200 °C and aggressive chemicals.
