Powerful combination of optical comparator and image processing

The HDV Series - Shadow measuring devices from Starrett combine the advantages of a horizontal optical comparator with modern digital image processing. The result is a high-precision measuring system for industrial applications in production, quality assurance and technical development. Users benefit from the combination of classic shadow projection and powerful video measurement technology, particularly when it comes to complex components.

While conventional profile projectors work purely optically, the HDV Series shadow measuring devices extend the measurement spectrum to include digital analysis functions. This means that contours, distances and angles can not only be compared visually, but also precisely evaluated and documented.

Robust design and generous measuring ranges

The HDV systems are designed for demanding industrial environments and have a table load capacity of up to 50 kg. Depending on the model, table distances of 300 mm × 150 mm (HDV300) or 400 mm × 150 mm (HDV400) are available. For larger applications, the HDV500 offers an extended projection system.

These generous travel paths enable the precise testing of a wide variety of workpieces - from smaller precision parts to larger components. At the same time, the stable design ensures high repeat accuracy and consistent measurement results in continuous use.

Telecentric lenses for distortion-free field of view measurements

A special feature of the HDV Series shadow meters is the patented lens changing system. This enables up to seven telecentric lenses to be mounted, allowing different magnifications to be realized flexibly. Telecentric optics minimize perspective distortions and ensure virtually distortion-free field of view measurements.

This allows resolutions in the micrometer range to be achieved - ideal for applications with high accuracy requirements. This optical measurement technology offers decisive advantages, particularly in precision mechanics, medical technology or electronics production.

5-megapixel camera and CAD data synchronization

The integrated 5 megapixel video camera in conjunction with the powerful MetLogix™-M3 software enables precise digital evaluation. DXF CAD files can be imported directly and compared with the live video image of the test specimen. This enables a quick target/actual comparison, which significantly increases process reliability.

In addition, the software supports extensive geometry tools and convenient measurement data acquisition. This makes both the HDV300 and the HDV400 suitable as industrial measuring equipment at the highest level.

Efficient quality assurance with the HDV Series - shadow measuring devices

By combining optical projection and digital image processing, the HDV Series offers a versatile solution for precise 2D measurements and contour inspections. Companies benefit from fast, non-contact inspection as well as traceable and documentable quality control.
