Fiber lasers in the visible spectrum for research, medicine and industry

fiber laser for the visible wavelength range are characterized by their high beam quality, compact design, and excellent long-term stability. They offer a reliable solution for applications requiring light in the 450 to 700 nanometer range. Soliton offers fiber lasers with emission-stable output powers, ideally suited for applications such as microscopy, laser projection, optical tweezers, and precise materials analysis.

In contrast to conventional solid-state lasers, visible fiber lasers thanks to their fully fiber-integrated architecture. This means no adjustment effort, no drift, and no complicated beam guidance. These advantages make fiber lasers particularly attractive for automated systems and continuous operation in demanding environments.

Structure and technology of modern visible fiber lasers

The active media of the fiber laser They usually consist of fibers doped with praseodymium, neodymium, or thulium. A diode pump directly excites the fiber, generating visible laser light via laser shifting or frequency-doubling processes. The laser-active fiber not only serves as amplification but also as a light-conducting medium, resulting in high efficiency and excellent beam quality.

Thanks to their flexible configuration, the fiber lasers can be precisely adjusted to specific wavelength ranges, be it blue light at 488 nm, green light at 532 nm, or red light near 660 nm. The laser light can be directly integrated into microscope or analysis systems via fiber-coupled output ports.

Areas of application

fiber laser in the visible range are used in many future-oriented applications:

  • Fluorescence microscopy and cell biological imaging

  • Raman spectroscopy and chemical analysis

  • Laser scanning microscopy

  • Display technology and laser projection

  • Biophotonics, e.g. B. optogenetic stimulation

  • Photodynamic therapy and diagnostics

The high beam stability, coupled with a high-emission, single-mode output coupling (TEM₀₀), predestines these laser types for tasks with the highest demands on spectral purity and long-term availability.
