Blink is a new family of sensors, patent pending from Laserpoint, that enables an unprecedented lower response time compared to conventional thermopile detectors, while maintaining broadband operation.

Blink can be used in any industrial, medical and laboratory application that requires accurate power or energy measurements of pulsed lasers up to femtosecond pulse duration and repetition rate up to 1 MHz.

The Blink family is available in two variants, Blink FR (Fast Response) and Blink HS (High Speed).

The image shows the fast response of the Blink HS sensor to a sequence of laser pulses with a pulse duration of 4 ns and a repetition rate of 1 MHz.

In addition, the thermal nature of the Blink sensors enables the ability to operate in a broadband spectrum from UV to THz. Furthermore, it offers the possibility to operate in a wide power density range (10-3-102 W/cm2) of the laser radiation without the need to use optical filters or take other precautions.

The advantage of the Blink series of high-speed thermal sensors over pyroelectric sensors and photodiodes for laser radiation measurement lies in the combination of an overall fast response time, a broadband spectral acceptance, a high saturation threshold for direct laser irradiation and the ability to measure both pulsed and cw laser sources.
