BLINK FR is a new generation of fast laser power meters from Laserpoint. These devices are based on a technology that allows high speeds to be reached that remain unattainable with standard thermopile detectors. Rise time is a crucial parameter for laser power meters when a fast response is required. With BLINK FR, users can accurately monitor important phenomena such as pointing stability, fast drifts and instabilities because the sensors respond very quickly.

Photodetectors respond to pulses of less than 1 ns, but can only withstand a few milliwatts of direct laser power. Their advantage of fast response is often compromised by standard readout electronics, which reduce response time to 0.1-0.2 s. Thermopile detectors, on the other hand, are inherently slow, with response times of more than a second to several tens of seconds. Although these times can be reduced by electronic circuits and algorithms, they rarely reach less than 800 ms, and then only for low-power sensors.

BLINK FR sensors, on the other hand, offer an unmatched natural response time of up to 90 ms, without any additional electronics or acceleration algorithms. This new feature paves the way to applications that were previously not possible. Users benefit from fast and reliable measurements, even at the highest speeds and short pulse durations. Fast laser power meters such as BLINK FR are therefore ideal for applications where conventional photodetectors or thermopile detectors fail due to their limitations in power and speed.
