At the center is the generation and characterization of a magneto-optical trap (MOT) with rubidium-87<\/strong>. This makes it possible to perform real experiments in laser cooling and atomic physics without first having to build a complex cold atom laboratory from individual components.<\/p>\n The desqtopMOT teaches both theoretical foundations and practical experimental skills. The curriculum provided by Infleqtion covers, among other things:<\/p>\n Advanced experiments also include sub-Doppler cooling, imaging, Faraday rotation, and electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The system operates on the rubidium D2 line at 780,241 nm<\/strong>. For the MOT, 30\u201350 mW of laser power is provided; the laser frequency can be tuned by \u00b150 MHz.<\/p>\n With the system, MOT temperatures of below 300 \u00b5K<\/strong> be achieved. Students thus not only learn the theory of laser cooling, but also generate and study real ensembles of cold atoms themselves.<\/p>\n The desqtopMOT integrates the essential components required for the experiments into a compact laboratory platform.
