The source uses user-supplied, fiber-coupled light to efficiently cool and transport rubidium or cesium atoms. When the PICAS is equipped with a <strong>ColdQuanta source cell<\/strong> it can be easily integrated into the user&#039;s vacuum system via a standard CF interface. Since the optomechanical unit can be removed if necessary, this enables an uncomplicated bake-out of the system.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Innovative beam expansion technology<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The PICAS uses a patented, ultra-compact beam expansion system that generates a rectangular beam of circularly polarized light. The intensity of the beam remains evenly distributed thanks to the use of cylindrical lenses and a distribution optic. The setup includes two of these beam expander units as well as two retro-reflection mirrors and a push optic. These components are optimally coordinated with one another and are precisely aligned and bonded before the cold atom tests.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Robust and vibration-resistant cold atom source<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>All optical systems of the PICAS are firmly pre-adjusted and bonded in a vibration-resistant manner.
