The platform was specifically developed for the next generation of highly integrated IC substrates and interposers, enabling the precise patterning of traces and vias for modern <strong data-start=\"1496\" data-end=\"1540\">Fan-out and advanced packaging processes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1581\" data-end=\"1944\">The system specifically addresses structural sizes in the range of approximately <strong data-start=\"1651\" data-end=\"1666\">1 to 10 \u00b5m<\/strong>, in which conventional manufacturing processes either reach their resolution limits or are associated with high process costs. Conductor paths and vias can be structured using a novel laser-based process.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1l4jr05\" data-start=\"1946\" data-end=\"1975\">Scanned Mask Imaging (SMI)<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1977\" data-end=\"2301\">The core of the MSV300 is the proprietary <strong data-start=\"2013\" data-end=\"2043\">Scanned Mask Imaging (SMI)<\/strong>-Technology by msolv. Unlike traditional direct-write methods, the pattern is transferred to the substrate using a mask. As a result, the process speed is largely independent of the pattern density.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2303\" data-end=\"2656\">A special advantage of SMI is the <strong data-start=\"2342\" data-end=\"2384\">selective control of the ablation depth<\/strong>. The width and depth of conductor track structures can be varied in a targeted manner, allowing three-dimensional structures to be created directly in the substrate \u2013 without the use of multiple exposure steps or complex chemical processes.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"zb6dq2\" data-start=\"2658\" data-end=\"2690\">Embedded Conductor Patterning<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2692\" data-end=\"3018\">A central application of the MSV300 is the manufacture <strong data-start=\"2747\" data-end=\"2781\">embedded conductor structures<\/strong>. In the process, printed conductors are embedded directly into the surface of organic substrates and subsequently metallized. With its SMI technology, Msolv cites structures down to <strong data-start=\"2956\" data-end=\"2979\">5\/5 \u00b5m Lines\/Spaces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3020\" data-end=\"3377\">The embedded structuring enables a higher packaging density and shorter electrical connection paths. At the same time, surface planarity can be improved and the number of required routing or ground layers reduced.
